Mabo started long before it became a brand. It began on the Santa Monica beach volleyball courts in the seventies, where a Romanian immigrant with broken English would shout “ma bo!” every time a teammate made an incredible play. He meant “my boy” — but his broken English carried a word that needed no translation. It was pure joy and celebration. Before long, “Mabo!” wasn’t just a compliment, it was a moment, a spark that honored one’s personal best.

That spirit grew into something bigger over the years. It became a way of living — a lifestyle built on balance, determination, experience, and adventure. We used it as a greeting. “Hey Mabo!” We used it as a reminder to move, to explore, to stay connected to the beaches, mountains, and bodies of water that shaped our lives. Mabo became a rhythm — mind, body, and soul in motion from one destination to the next.
